It’s been a busy weekend in Phillies world. Not only have fan favorite alumni been at the ballpark, but it’s also players weekend. Players weekend returns after a four year hiatus and aims to bring more creativity to the game. Each day this weekend had a different theme:
Fun (Friday): This will be a time to show off players' personalities, friendships and off-field interests.
Causes (Saturday): The focus this day will be on players' favorite charity and community efforts.
Appreciation (Sunday): Players will celebrate the people who helped them in their journey to the big leagues.
Now, some of the bats are easy to tell what category/theme they fall into, others, not so much.
Let’s jump in to all the customization this weekend!
Trea Turner
Trea has a “Backyard Baseball” inspired bat, with an avatar and player profile. (As someone who religiously played Backyard Baseball on their DS, this makes me happy)
The Miami vibe bat
(Not shown) NC State Wolfpack Bat - This is in appreciation of his alma mater for getting him to the big leagues.
Bryce Harper
Bryce let his kids draw on the bats. The yellow bat is a crayon with the color name of “Foul Pole Yellow”. Harper’s kids Krew (5) and Brooklyn (3.5) drew on the bat. His youngest Kamryn (3 months) was a little too young to join in on the fun.
In classic Bryce Harper fashion, he also has a Phanatic inspired bat. Bryce’s love for the phanatic started as soon as he joined the team.
Causes- The Headstrong Foundation, which helps those with cancer improve their lives had a handful of players representing their organization. For the Phillies that was Bryson Stott & Garrett Stubbs.
Garrett Stubbs
The light green bat on the bottom is the headstrong one. That’s in honor of someone in his family.
The top bat is designed for one of his relatives who is serving in the military.
Bryson Stott
Stott has 4 bats, the first is the DayCare bat (more on that in a moment)
The lightsaber bat (which glows in the dark!!!)
The #2 pencil, which made it’s debut at the Little League World Series game last year
And finally Stott’s HeadStrong bat, which honors his childhood friend Cooper.
Stott also had customized cleats for the weekend. With nods to his hometown of Las Vegas all over them.
The Daycare bat! Includes the sunflower seeds too! Marsh & Stott, two prominent Daycare members show off their bats.
Brandon Marsh
Marsh has a custom bat with an avatar of his face and the wording “Stay Loose & Sexy baby”, aka his band that he created.
Alec Bohm - Raffe Bat, inspired by his nickname, Giraffe. Also peep the Broad Street Creations shirt!
Weston Wilson - Nashville, Philly and North Carolina cleats
JT Realmuto - Hickory Bat
Johan Rojas - Lion Bat
Nick Castellanos - Why does he have a buddha on his bat???
Which customization is your favorite from this weekend?
I personally love Alec’s bat!!
